The Rhino Tracker Ceremony held at Rietvlei Nature Reserve on the 4th of December 2012 celebrated an inspiring tracking venture supported by Imperial Select and Friends of Rietvlei. Two rhinos in the Rietvlei Nature Reserve have been safely and successfully fitted with transmitters and the rest of the reserve’s rhinos will follow. These necessary devices send regular signals for tracking and identification purposes and if movement seems irregular, a distress signal is sent. The importance of these devices cannot be stressed enough and celebrating the cause and progress was only natural.
