When a new car is sold, it should come with a service booklet that gets stamped and dated when the car is serviced.

  • Cars without a full history, or one that&rsquos only partially complete, are worth less than cars with a full history.
  • If the used car has undergone all of its servicing at a main dealer, the sellers may charge more.


To ensure its roadworthiness, every vehicle older than 3+ years has to pass an annual MOT test.

  • Closely examine MOT certificate to ensure that you have an original.
  • MOT tests are only a guarantee of a car&rsquos roadworthiness at the point it was tested it shouldn&rsquot be a substitute for your own thorough checks.
  • As with service history, a collection of past MOTs should show the vehicle&rsquos mileage increasing.


The receipt given to you when you buy a used car should include

  • Car registration and VIN.

The rearview camera comes standard with the higher end SX model but is also optional for any of the other models. While the Rio is built for comfort and creates quite a comfortable long-distance driving experience, the legroom and headroom may be a bit too small for taller people.
